I haven't overclocked this chip (6770k) because I haven't needed to yet but back when I had an fx8350 I OC'd to 5ghz and got a 20fps boost from it, chip still works fine it's in my media machine now. I've been overclocking for years and never had a chip die. If you have both of the above OP then there's no harm in sucking some extra juice.

Either a Noctua NH-d15 or high-end water cooling (not cheap water cooling, even the NH-d15 beats a mid-range water cooling kit) It's a K so he's fine overclocking as long as 1.) he has a GOOD PSU (take note OP) (nothing less than 80+ bronze certified - an Antec or Seasonic preferably are the best for OCing) and 2. Overclocking that cpu isn't doing anything but potentially causing long term harm to your system. This may lead to performance degradation at best or failure to load at worst.ģ2GB may not even be enough for 3k assets, so you'll improve the situation but you'll still be shuffling files to your hard disk. Anything more will be written to a page file on your hard disk. Why? Because 16GB will only be able to cope with up to 800 unpacked assets. Yes you will see an improvement in performance.
